ABOUT
Ragda Alazizi was born in 1984 in Damascus and worked as a freelance journalist in Syria. In 2011, during the Arab Spring, Ragda Alizizi was active in the protests against the Syrian regime. At this time, she collected stories about women engaging in the fight against the Al-Assad regime, and incorporated them later into her film „LAMS“. Ragdas Work deal with the theam violence, especially violence against women in Assad’s prisons.
The characters of her films protagonists are a counter image to the passive victim and the cliché of the suppressed Arab woman. She chooses the abstract and surreal way in the artistic and dramatic form of her work to express the brutality that women in Syrian prisons are subjected to.
She also works on the topic of life in exile with young people in Germany.
In 2013, she had to flee from Syria and came to Berlin, where she realized her first film projects, „Don from Syria“ and „One Point Two Square Meters in Berlin“.
Ragda studied Film at the University of Arts UdK Berlin.
